Life Members

The West Australian Poultry Association (WAPA) proudly awards Life Membership to the following individuals, in recognition of their decades of dedication to advancing poultry breeding and exhibition in Western Australia.

Keven Nordstrom
Keven’s journey in poultry began in his youth learning what he knows from his Father, Ted Nordstrom. Over the years, he has become a cornerstone of the WA poultry community. He is renowned for his expertise in waterfowl, rare and common breeds of poultry, and has been instrumental in encouraging other West Australians to be involved the preservation of genetic diversity within Australia’s poultry stock. Notably, Keven was a key figure in the original Australian Rare Poultry Importation Syndicate, which aimed to introduce new genetic lines and breeds into the country - a project that, despite its challenges and ultimate bitter ending (out of the syndicate’s control), underscored his commitment to the genetic health and sustainability of poultry breeds in Australia.
Beyond breeding, Keven has served in numerous leadership roles. He is the current president of the Waroona Poultry Club and been a committee member of WAPA since its repositioning as WA’s state body in the mid 2010s. His stewardship at major events like the Wagin Woolorama has been pivotal in maintaining high standards and fostering the next generation of poultry and waterfowl breeders.
Keven’s life membership is a testament to his unwavering passion and significant contributions to the poultry community. His passion for birds inspires both seasoned breeders and newcomers, ensuring that the rich tradition of poultry breeding in Western Australia continues to thrive.
