Joel's Story
MR JOEL STINGLE - Tasmania

I started in poultry at the age of 6 after going to Brian Bennet's place in Hadspen and acquiring my first Pure breed of a trio of White Indian Runners. It wasn't until we moved to Hadspen in 1985 that I got a setting of Buff Orpington duck eggs from Bob Weldon. This is where Brian talked me through my first Show preparation for the Deloraine Agricultural show in 1988 and I was hooked. My first flight out of Tasmania was to a duck show, The VWA as Brian was judging there. On that trip I met Ted Carter and my love of KC and we also visited Micheal Holmes & Ian Pollard's places.

I started judging 16 odd years ago at our local clubs and Aggie shows in Tasmania. I had my first break in 2017 at the EKKA judging waterfowl. I have since then judged waterfowl at Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland royals and also Judged Waterfowl, Hardfeather & softfeather in Vic, Qld, Tas. and SA . I currently breed White & Trout Indian Runners, Large Sussexs & Langshans, My daughter has the Elizabeth's. With reference to Water Fowl, I have bred and kept the following breeds;- Sebastopols, Muscovies, Khaki Campbells, Buff Orpingtons, Indian Runners in 7 colours, BEI, Calls, Pekins, Rouens and mallards. My line of White & Trout Runners are currently extremely successful, The highest award being Champion Bird of Show with a Trout Runner Drake at Royal Launceston Show in 2017 and Champion Buff Orpington at the Nationals in 2008. I have held positions as Secretary Poultry Club of Tasmania currently 15 years , Treasurer Wyandotte club of Australia 5 years and Chief Steward at Deloraine Agricultural Show Society 6years.

I'm looking forward to Judging at the WA state Show in May.
